Trivia candidula (Gaskoin, 1836)
Amphiatlantic. SE. USA to S. Brasil; Cantabrian Sea to Cabo Verde, into the western Mediterraneran. Predator on sessile preys in the infralittoral and the circalittoral.

The shell of this species differs from that of virginea by a higher number of lyrae (20 to 24 in candidula vs. 16 to 20 in virginea) and by the more numerous labral teeth (18 to 22 in candidula vs. 15 to 19 in virginea). The lyrae, more marked than in virginea, are separated from each other by thinner interspaces.

Above and below:
80-90m deep, Strait of Gibraltar. 7,8mm.
It seems that the terminals are less marked (the shell is less rostrated) in candidula than in virginea. The fact remains that the conchological differences between these two species are not obvious, especially where the size-ranges overlap.
