Palazzia ausonia (Palazzi, 1988)
Iceland and Norway to Canarias, into Mediterranean, on the continental shelf and deeper.
Original taxon: Omalogyra ausonia.

« This is a very small species (about half a millimeter), pale, characterized by the large radial ribs that develop adapically and abapically, but do not affect the diameter of the spire. These ribs are irregular, ranging from rod-shaped/fusiform to guttiform/claviform, and stand out clearly against the smooth background. The peristome is round reniform and the nautiloid appearance, given by the overlapping of the adperistomial part of the spire on the abperistomial part, is very accentuated. Protoconch with a max. diameter of 120µm. » – S. Palazzi: “Note sugli Omalogyridae mediterranei e maderensi”, Bollettino Malacologico vol. 24, Milano 1988, p.103.

200m deep, off Dubrovnik, S. Croatia. 0,4mm. Original pictures provided by R. Stanić (HR) – (CC BY-NC-SA).
