Spiralix cf. S. puteana (Coutagne, 1883) |
Known distribution for this “possible” puteana: Source du Bout du Monde, Verdus creek, Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Hérault, S. France. Altitude ≈ 150m. Above: a specimen collected at the emergence. 1,65mm. |
The shape and the microsculpture are those of the puteana of Coutagne: shell subconical and not cylindrical as in lineolata, spiral sculpture obsolete and very thin, but not missing as in vitrea. |
Spiralix puteana lives in hyporheic habitats as well as in karstic aquifers of at least the Gard and the Vaucluse. Same spot. 1,65mm. |
A probable synonym of puteana Coutagne is collieri Nicolas, 1891. Adult specimen from the same same spot, with an undulating lip. 1,8mm. |
These spirally arranged minute pimples are shared by the whole of the collected specimens. Same spot. 1,55-1,7-1,75-1,8mm. |
