Henrigirardia wienini (Girardi, 2001) |
The genus, for the time being, is stygobiont and monospecific. Named after Michel Wienin who is the co-inventor of this species. H. wienini is only known from two spots. The first one is on Aniane territory, in the Hérault valley; the second one is the locus typicus, close to Aniane: the Fontanilles cave-river, on the territory of Puéchabon. The above specimen was collected in this cave, in the hall immediately downstream the first siphon, at about 100m from the nearest entrance. Altitude ≈ 90m. Size circa 1,5mm. |
The last whorl and the aperture are distinctly thrown outside. The peristome is thick and often open out. Same spot. Size circa 1,5mm. |
The positioning of the aperture is very variable: the pitching can be so strong that the aperture swings 90° upwards. Same spot; sizes circa 1,2-1,3mm. |
