Bythinella cf. Bythinella tejedoi Bœters, 2019 |
The shell is close to that of darrieuxii with a strongly marked subsutural ramp, but the adapical keel is less angular. In fact, the morphology is very close to that of Bythinella tejedoi Bœters, 2019. The locality is also compatible (small range extension) with the known distribution given by Bœters for this species (drainages basins of Tech and Agly, south to Tarragona), hence the choice to associate the individuals pictured here with tejedoi. Locality: a small captured spring along the road at Gesse, upper Aude river, Bessède-de-Sault, Aude, S. France. 2,45mm. Altitude ≈ 560m. |
Description of Bythinella tejedoi in H. Bœters: “The genus Bythinella Moquin-Tandon, 1856 in the French Languedoc (Gastropoda: Caenogastropoda: Truncatelloidea)”, Archiv für Molluskenkunde vol. 151(2), Frankfurt-am-Main 2022, p.108: « Whorls 3¾-4, moderately convex. Suture deep. Last ¼ of last whorl scarcely ascends on shell wall. Columellar border of aperture scarcely broadened. Umbilicus slit- or funnel-like. Aperture opisthocline and rounded-ovoid. Angle of the aperture rounded, upper section of palatal border between angle and lower bent section straight. Parietal border above umbilicus fused with shell wall. Suture accompanied inside last ¼ of last whorl by a thickening, increasing towards the angle of the aperture. » The anterior half of the labial margin differs from that of darrieuxii by its tendancy to slightly expand laterally, while it is always constricted in the latter.
