Subtidal, asleep.

Buccinidae: 50mm Buccinum undatum Linnaeus, 1758.
Excellent example of this fragile species. Yellow mouthed specimens are uncommon.
Outer side (southern) of the bank near the jetty, 50cm deep, on fine sand.
Operculum lost somewhere in my kitchen. I suspect the cat.
The species lives in shallower waters in the north than in the south. It prefers the cold,
and colonizes all kind of flat bottoms, especially those with shell debris, down to 200m deep.
73mm specimen, found on coarse sand with large ripple-marks, 50cm underwater.
Description of the species, by Linnæus:
"undatum,410. B. testa oblonga rudi transversim striata: anfractibus curvato-multangulis.
Habitat in O. Europæo.
Simillimum Murici antiquo & despecto, æque rude."
Are noticed here the similarities that exist between B. undatum and Neptuneas.
