Mediterranean, at least the the oriental part. On sediments, in the infralittoral and the circalittoral. Original taxon: Dentalium rossati. Shekll moderately arcuate, slightly pinkish in its middle, whitish elsewhere, and translucent anteriorly. The longitudinal ribs, less numerous than is Antalis vulgaris, fade near the middle of the shell; the anterior end is completely smooth except some occasional growth rings. Above and below: 12m deep, on sand, Taşucu, Silifke, Mersin Province, S. Turkey. 32,75mm. |
The posterior end, very reduced in diameter (here: 0,7mm), shows about 10-12 marked ribs. |
