Norway and Sweden to Mediterranean. Possibly amphiatlantic. Predator on mobile preys, across the continental shelf and slope. Also present in the lochs of western Scotland (MBSBI). Original taxon: Neaera abbreviata, a name chosen as per the short posterior rostrum (« postice brevi-rostratâ » in Forbes). Above and below: trawled at 250m deep, off Malta. 3,3mm. |
A synonym is vitrea Lovén. Beaks opistogyrate. The microsculpture is, like the sculpture, mainly commarginal, with very weak radials. |
