Tellimya tenella (Lovén, 1846) |
Norway to Mediterranean. Lives in the infralittoral and the circalittoral, in association with the urchin Brissopsis lyrifera (Forbes, 1841). Original taxon: Montacuta tenella. Valves moderately convex, fragile, translucent, with a large anterior part; prodissoconches conspicuous, with orthogyrate beaks; resilifer submarginal; sculpture made up of numerous commarginal growth marks and some very weak radial striae. The general outline is more ovate than in ferruginea. Above and below: single valves dredged at 500m deep, off Cavtat, Dubrovnik-Neretva Comitat, S. Croatia. 1,5-1,8mm.
