Rhomboidella prideauxi (Leach, 1815)
English Channel & S. England to St. Helena, to Adriatic. Attached by its byssus on various substrates, from sublittoral zone down to continental shelf.
Original taxon: Modiola prideaux (sic).
Synonyms: asperula, prideauxiana, rhombea.
50m deep, Scilla, Reggio Calabria, SW Italy. 2,75-3mm.
 
« Modiola Prideaux – Prideaux’s Modiola: Hinder part of the shell with elongated cancelli; hinder side with a rounded wing; anterior side towards the middle, broadly sinuated. The prodissoconch, typical of the genus, is adorned with some concentric lamellae, while the rest of the shell is clathrate.
55m deep, in grit, Ognina area, Catania, E. Sicilia. 4,5mm.
