« Lepton sulcatulum: Testa subrotunda, convexiuscula, nitida, pellucida, alba, sulcis confertis concentrice insculpta ; margine antico aliquando (praesertim in adultis) sinuato ; umbonibus prominulis, calyculatis, glabris ; dentibus, in valvula dextra duo lateralibus validis approximatis, in valvula sinistra uno cardinali et duo lateralibus utrinque approximantibus ; ligamento (uti in congeneribus) interno, fovea centrali triangulari, recepto ; […] This new and exquisitely beautiful species occurred to me rather plentifully in dredged sand and washings of corallines from the sublittoral zone at Guernsey. I also noticed it at Paris among some minute shells from Sardinia which were submitted to my inspection, as well as in Mr. M‘Andrew’s cabinet from Orotava and Lancerote in the Canaries ; so that it appears to have a wide range. » – J. G. Jeffreys: “Further Gleanings in British Conchology”, Annals and magazine of natural history vol. III num. XIII, London 1859, via BHL.
