Algarve to Gabon, Mediterranean. Intertidal to at least 120m deep, on various soft sediments.
Original taxon: Chama trapezia.
Above and below: dredged at 45m deep, off Protaras, Paralimni, Famagusta, SE. Cyprus. 7-7mm.
« Shell trapeziform, whitish, sparingly spotted with black ; ribs eighteen in number, finely crenulated ; lunule rather large ; ligamentary area depressly flat. » – L. A. Reeve: Conchologia iconica vol. I, London 1843, via BHL.
