Fulvia fragilis (Forskål in Niebuhr, 1775)
NW. Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Mediterranean.
Littoral to infralittoral, in fine sediments.
Original taxon: Cardium fragile.
Synonyms: deshayesianum, fornasinianum Bianconi, 1856.
Above and below: beachstormed on sand, Kiryat Yam, Haifa, W. Israel. 27-32mm.

CIESM lists differences with Fulvia australis (Sowerby, 1834): few traces of a weak periostracum, no scales posteriorly; internally white with purple instead of yellow or light pink. Also, the species is larger (up to 75mm vs. 35mm).
