Norwegian Sea to Angola, Mediterranean. Deposit feeder, on hard substrates of the low infralittoral as well as among the circalittoral coralligen, cave assemblages and other sciaphile environments. The species is rather variable in outline, but there are two constant characteristics: the minute cutout in the prodissoconch (not visible on this image), and the flattened outline of the anterior margin. The addition of these two features suggests perminimma.
