BIVALVIA | CLAVAGELLIDAE |
Endolithic watering-pot bivalves in which the left valve is cemented to the substrate, while the right valve remains free. Like some other nesting genera such as Rocellaria, these animals secrete a long calcareous siphonal tube. |

Bryopa Gray, 1847:Shell small to medium-sized, inequilateral, with a strong commarginal sculpture that appears to arise from the posterior valve margin and extends towards the anterior (B. Morton, 2007). The right valve shows a very thick pallial line and, in full-grown specimens, an eroded or completely lost umbo due to the burrowing activity of the animal in its crypt. |
