Taranis moerchii (Malm, 1861)

Beaufort Sea to Florida, Norway to Mediterranean. Predator in the circalittoral, down to bathyal depths. Original taxon: Trophon moerchii. Synonyms: alexandrina, cirratum, demersa, tornata… 100m deep, Saronic Gulf, SE. Greece. 4,26mm.

Transition protoconch-teleoconch, with appearance of the first radial folds and of the peripheral keel. At this stage, the radials are only slightly sinuous, and almost orthocline.
