Spirolaxis clenchi Jaume & Borro, 1946 |
Caribbean, Mediterranean. The species lives in deep-sea coral or crinoid environments, on the continental shelf and margin. Above and below: 500m deep, central Tyrrhenian deep-sea coral biocenosis, off Civitavecchia, Lazio, W. Italy. 2,2mm. |
Unlike what happens in the sister species centrifuga Monterosato, the body whorls of clenchi are markedly joined, while they only stay close together in centrifuga. |
Peripheral ribs strongly marked and crenulate. All original pictures provided by A. Nappo (IT). – (CC BY-NC-SA) – |
