The shell has a strong sculture, but the keel is not as marked as in other members of the genus. On the base, around the crenulate umbilicus, there is a large band with a distinctive radial sculpture made up of flat costae, which, as they are interrupted by the first spiral thread, give this area the unique pattern of radiating rectangular tiles.
