Simnia nicaeensis Risso, 1826
Galicia to W. Mediterranean.
Predator on Eunicella verrucosa at circa 50-200m deep.
 
The lectotype is often considered as a juvenile of (?)Simnia aperta (Dolin & Ledon, 2002 p.341). « The name has nevertheless been broadly used […] for a deep-water Mediterranean species… » (WoRMS). Shell whitish, very slender, glossy, and smooth apart some spiral striae on the extremities, and some growth marks.

The spiral striations, always weak, appear at the extremities, and quickly vanish before reaching the middle of the shell.
