Natal to New Caledonia, Philippines to Red Sea and eastern Mediterranean. Sampled in Gavdos island, SE. Crete. Lives on muddy to sandy bottom, in the infralittoral and the circalittoral, down to circa 60m deep (CIESM). Grazer and detritus feeder. Original taxon: Cerithium kochi. Synonym: recurvum. 5m deep, on sand, Iskenderun, Hatay, SE. Turkey. 28mm. |
« Shell slender, turreted, whitish; whorls flat, transversely furrowed, slightly wrinkled longitudinally and therefore subnodulose, knobby and white at the suture; the last whorl subcarinate at the base; aperture ovate-oblong; labrum calloused; columella weakly folded; canal straight, very short. » – R.
