Raphitoma andrehoaraui Pelorce & Horst, 2020 |
![]() |
NW. Mediterranean to Adriatic. Predator at least in the infralittoral. The shell of this species differs from that of the close azuari by its multispiral protoconch (circa 3 whorls vs. 2 in azuari). It differs from the shell of the similar species antipolitana, which has also about 3 whorls of protoconch, by the microsculpture of the latter: in andrehoaraui, the radials of the protoconch become opisthocline abapically since the second whorl, while they become prosocline on the third whorl in antipolitana. Above and below: 10m deep, Brač island, Split-Dalmatia Comitat, S. Croatia. 11,7mm. Original pictures provided by A. Nappo (IT) – (CC BY-NC-SA). |
