« Shell small, recalling the shape of a Pupa, oval-oblong with strong longitudinal ribs, less wide than their intervals which are transversely marked with regular, tight and well marked striations; Spire conical, composed of plano-subconvex whorls, separated by a slightly sunken suture, the last whorl more convex and equal to about a quarter of the total length; aperture small, oval, semilunar, oblique to the axis of the shell, angular at the upper part; labial margin simple, straight, continuing with the columellar edge, which is sub-thickened and somewhat reflected outwards, so as to form behind it, at the point of its insertion on the base, a simulacrum of a small umbilicus; columella oblique, with two transverse folds, the superior of which is the stronger. This shell is white, with no indication of any spots or designs, at least on our copy, the only one we know of. » – Souverbie & Montrouzier: “Descriptions d’espèces nouvelles de l’Archipel Calédonien”, Journal de Conchyliologie vol. XIII, Paris 1865, p.152.
