Pyrgolidium internodulum
(Wood, 1848)
Angola Algarve, to Mediterranean.
Original taxon: Chemnitzia internodula.
Synonyms: rosea Monterosato and rosea von Maltzan.

On the last whorl, there are about 25 undulating, slightly opisthocline radials. The colour is typical.

Above and below: 33m deep, Punta de la Mona, La Herradura, Granada, Andalucia, S. Spain. 5,8mm. Original pictures provided by A. Nappo (IT) – (CC BY-NC-SA).
The intercostal nodules, seen by Monterosato in its description of the genus, are a single cord that runs at the periphery of each whorl, between and under the radial folds, which are slightly distorted at its passage. Nota bene that Monterosato discovered two cords instead of one, in extant specimens from North Africa. It could be a variant, or it could happen that this second cord may only be visible on the last whorl.
