British Isles to Adriatic, N. Africa. Ectoparasit in the infralittoral. Original taxon: Odostomia monozona. Shell conical, white, weakly transparent. Teleoconch composed of 4-5 flat whorls, deeply excavated at the suture; radial sculpture made up of some orthocline ribs, as large as their interspaces and rather straight, which extend onto the base where they subside and vanish; the spiral sculpture consists of a unique band (monozona) that makes the shoulder of each whorl, and of numerous microstriae in the interspaces and around the base; aperture oval; one columellar fold. Synonyms: intermixta, jeffreysi, rara. 50-80m deep, Málaga, Andalucia, S. Spain. 1,8mm. |
