Ocenebra salahi Cossignani & Ahuir, 2021
North Morocco, including the Mediterranean part. Predator in the deep circalittoral and the continental shelf. The shell of this species is very close to that of erinaceus. It differs by its usually smaller size, by the slender and elongate shape, the pale colour, the frondose sculture, and by the presence of a huge primary cord that gives the whorls a very angular shape. Above: young specimens from 120m deep, dredged at the base of a slope colonized by red coral, Gibraltar strait. 17,5-21mm.
A large specimen from 80m deep, off Essaouira, NW. Morocco. 43mm.
80m deep, on coralligen, north of Larache, N. Morocco. Paratype 12. Original pictures provided by A. Nappo (IT).
