Norway to Mauritania, Canarias, Azores to Mediterranean and Black Sea. Grazer on Lichens and Cyanobacteria, also detritus feeder; locally abundant on rocky supralittoral, in crevices and other sheltered places in areas exposed to spray. It is also possible to find these Periwinkles in the intertidal level. Original taxon: Turbo neritoides. Synonyms: caerulescens, glabrata, petraea, tricolor… On rocks, 2m above sea level, in small crevices, Pointe du Brusq, Saint-Cyr, Provence, S. France. 5-6mm. |
