S. Ionian, Aegean, Eastern Mediterranean. Predator in the infralittoral. Original taxon: Cythara derelicta callosa. « 8-9 ribs on the body whorl, which are as wide as their interspaces. Spiral sculpture of many fine cords, with spaced stronger spirals, which are obsolete on the ribs. The latter are greyish, the rest of the shell being a dark purplish-brown. Aperture rather narrow, with a somewhat wide siphonal canal and a thickened outer lip. » (F. Nordsieck, quoted by C. Cachia, 1995). Notice also the dark spiral fascie on the last whorl, and a pale band, of the colour of the radial ribs, on the periphery. 3m deep, in grit, at the foot of the citadel, south of the harbour, Methóni, Messinia, Peloponnese, SW.
