Lyromangelia taeniata (Deshayes, 1835)

Mediterranean to Canarias. Predator in the infralittoral-circalittoral. Original taxon: Pleurotoma taeniata. 55m deep, Ognina, Catania, E. Sicilia. 4,5-4,7mm.

A specimen from shallow infralittoral, Elafonisi, SW. of Kissamos, W. Crete. 4,2mm.

Notice how the protoconch can vary in this species. This one is dark and not as stretched as in the specimen from Scilla supra. The pattern, made of brownish spiral bands bordered by darker margins, is more or less marked, but is a constant feature.
