Azores to Angola, to W. Mediterranean. Predator on Sipuncula, in infralittoral-circalittoral hard substrates (gravels, rocks, coralligene). Original taxon: Mitra cornea. Synonyms: aquitanica, fusca, melaniana… At low tide, under rocks, Borj Jilij, Jerba, S. Tunisia. 21mm. |
« Outer lip nearly straight along middle portion, rounded and dorsally reflected anteriorly to form siphonal notch […] External shell color ranges from dark chestnut brown to purplish gray and may be solid or banded.
