Worldwide warm seas. Swimming suspension feeder in the neritic zone, occcasionally in large swarms. Epipelagic. Diurnal migrator. Original taxon: Atlanta inflata. Whorls up to 3. On the last whorl, a strong rib runs over the dorsal side and projects over the margin, forming the apertural tooth, of variable shape and size. Sometimes two ribs occur, each on one side of the last whorl. Umbilicus narrow and deep. Specimens from 35m deep, Riccione, Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, NE. Italy. 0,7-1mm. |
