Madeira to Mediterranean. Absent in the Aegean Sea. Predator on seashells in the infralittoral, on sandy bottoms. Original taxon: Natica macilenta. The most slender Moon-snail of Mediterranean. Shell glossy, of a pale brown background with a blurry pattern of chestnut flames or arrowheads, crossed by an uncoloured subsutural spiral area. Microsculpture made up of tiny prosocline growth striae. Umbilicus open, with a carved spiral furrow. A triangular parietal callus, whitish posteriorly, brownish anteriorly, covers the adapical extremity. Aperture angled posteriorly. 25-35m deep, in sand, Estepona, Málaga, Andalucia, S. Spain. 13-14mm. |
