Mediterranean. Ectoparasit on unknown molluscs in the infralittoral and upper circalittoral, among detritic bottoms, corraligene… Basionym: Turbonilla humboldti. Synonyms: clathrata, lactea, turriculata. The species, at left, G. W. Tryon: Manual of conchology, structural and systematic vol. VIII, Philadelphia 1886, plate 77. At right, the taller shell with a stronger structure is bullinea. Tryon confuses the two species. « Whorls 5, and nucleus, rather solid, stout, a little convex, with deep suture, with numerous spiral riblets decussated by longitudinal striae; columella with a strong superior plication; white. » – G.
