Iceland & Norway to Cabo Verde, Madeira to Mediterranean. Ectoparasit in, at least, the circalittoral. Original taxon: Parthenia ventricosa. Synonyms: gracilis, turritellata… The species is larger than many other european members of the genus. Protoconch of type A, rather small; whorls less flat than in acicula; growth lines slightly prosocline. The shape varies a little, with whorls more or less convex, but never flat. Large dead adult specimen from 160m deep, detritic bottom, off Ras ir-Raħeb, NW. Malta. 2,7mm. |
