Gulf of Aden, Red Sea, eastern Mediterranean. Planktotrophic. Infralittoral, maybe deeper. Original taxon: Avalitiscala vaillanti. The main difference with the other mediterranean Epitoniidae is given by the spiral striae, that cover not only the whorls but also the radial lamellae. – Above, a specimen from the lot MNHN-IM-2000-4346, collection Jousseaume, in the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris, France.
