Cantabrian Sea to Canarias, Azores and lusitanian seamounts to Mediterranean. Predator and parasit of some sea-anemones in the infralittoral and circalittoral. – Original taxon: Scalaria pulchella. Synonyms: multistriata, schultzii. – Protoconch relatively reduced, multispiral, brownish and shiny in fresh specimens. Teleoconch : whorls circa 6, convex, separate of each other by a well marked suture. Radial sculpture made up of circa 20 lamellae not much developed. There is sometimes a spiral microsculpture. Colour white to light fawn, the lamellae paler than the body. – Above and below: a specimen from Rochelongue, Cap d’Agde, Hérault, S. France. 11,5mm. |
