Drilliola emendata (Monterosato, 1872)
Mediterranean (Monterosato, Sturany). Possibly also in Azores and Brasil (“Challenger” exp.). Predator in the low circalittoral to bathyal depths. Original taxon: Taranis emendata, new combination for a Pleurotoma Renieri by Philippi.

According to Monterosato, Philippi’s Renieri (1844) was a different species than the Pleurotoma Renieri of Scacchi (1835). But, as Scacchi’s Renieri was itself a synonym of Microdrillia crispata (de Cristofori & Jan, 1832), this name fell. In order to avoid any confusion, Monterosato suggested to rename also the shell described by Philippi, and proposed the epithet emendata (see Notizie intorno alle conchiglie fossili di Monte Pellegrino e Ficarazzi , Palermo 1872, p.17).
