Canarias to Mediterranean. Micrograzer and deposit feeder in the lower infralittoral down to at least the circalittoral. D. marianae is close to culteriana by its marked spiral sculpture, but differs from the latter by a smaller size, a more elevated spire, the more numerous spiral cords, and by the spirals of the protoconch (not visible on the picture).
