Crisilla chiarellii (Cecalupo & Quadri, 1995) |
Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus. Grazer and detritus feeder in the infralittoral. Original taxon: Alvania (Crisilla) chiarellii. The shell is close to that of young Crisilla beniamina, a species with which it has been found sympatric in the type-locality. A difference between the two species is given by the double spiral cords that run around the whorls: supersutural in beniamina, subsutural in chiarellii. Above and below: specimens collected in shallow water grit, Coral Bay, Pégeia, Paphos District, W. Cyprus. 1,4-1,5mm. |
A specimen less slender than the preceding one. Notice the double spiral cords and the radial microsculpture. |
Variations of shape in specimens from Coral Bay. 1,5mm. |
