Bela nuperrima (Tiberi, 1855)
Cantabrian Sea to Mediterranean. Predator in the low circalittoral down to the continental shelf and slope.
Original taxon: Pleurotoma nuperrimum.

The shell differs from those of other species in the genus by its less fusiform shape, its whorls that are carinate at their periphery, and by the sculpture. The axial costae are less prominent than usually, and are visually dominated by a dense system of sharp axial ribs crossed by numerous spiral ridges. The seconday spirals are those of all the genus. The intersections of primary axials and spirals gives rise to small pointed nodosities. Finally, the colour is always verey faded, and there is no pattern.
