Grazer and detritus feeder in the infralittoral.
Synonym: karpathoensis Nordsieck.
 
Shell strong, solid, varicose; whorls very angular in shape; labial margin thick in adult stage, toothed internally. Protoconch paucispiral. Teleoconch: sculpture made up of about 8 thick prosocline radial varices vanishing near the suture and becoming stronger at the periphery, crossed by circa 10 spiral ribs that pass over the radials. The spirals are often brown coloured, while the radials are whitish; sometimes, the interspaces between the radials are of a dark brown. Traces of purple at the columella. – Above and below: 8m deep, in grit, Kárpathos island, SW. Dodecanese. 4,4mm.
Microsculpture made up of thin prosocline growth striae.
The overpassing spiral ribs are nor marked by the latter.
The transition protoconch-teleoconch begins with two spirals, the abapical one being the stronger. – 8m deep, Bozcaada island, Çanakkale province, W. Marmara, NW. Turkey. 4,4mm.
A pale specimen from 6m deep, Finiki, southwestern coast of Karpathos island. 4,43mm.
