Shells small (Aplus) to medium-sized (Solenosteira), biconical, with a pointed apex; aperture long, sometimes narrow sometimes ovate, with a posterior siphonal notch varying from obsolete to strongly marked; anterior siphonal canal obsolete to short, open; columellla smooth, curved, bent anteriorly; columellar callus poorly developed; no umbilicus; operculum claw-shaped, with an anteriorly terminal nucleus. |

Pisania Bivona-Bernardi, 1832:Shell small, with flat whorls (body whorl excepted) and shallow sutures; sculpture made up of numerous spiral threads crossed by commarginal growth-marks; aperture laurel leaf-shaped, with a pronounced posterior siphonal notch and an obsolete anterior canal, open; labial margin serrateed; columellla smooth except a noticeable tooth placed posteriorly, at the level of the siphonal notch, of which it forms the internal side. « Dedico questo genere al barone don Pietro Pisani, gia ovunque meritamenle celebrato per avere saputo fare in dirigendo la publica casa de’ pazzi a Palermo, un modello di filantropia, di cura e di più che paterna sofferenza a gran sollievo di quelli afflitti, a suo onore e di tutta Sicilia. » – A.
