Shells small, thin, rissoiform, globose, with an umbilical slit. The main differences with Rissoidae, Iravadiidae or Hydrobiidae are anatomical.
 

A deep water genus, often living around hydrothermal vents and seeps. The shell bears the same kind of protoconch as the epitoniid genus Iphitus Jeffreys, 1883, but with less whorls, and a less marked sculpture. The teleoconch is smooth.
