Acanthochitona crinita (Pennant, 1777)
Sea of Barents, Svalbard to Cabo Verde, to western Mediterranean. On rocks and stones, from intertidal to circa 60m deep. Grazer.
Original taxon: Chiton crinitus.
Synonyms: adansoni, oblongus, onyx
2m deep, under a big stone, western end of Corton Cove, Cassis, Provence, S. France. 23mm.

9 bundles of short setae on each side. The granulation of its dorsal plates is rough and irregular (DORIS).

The laying out of the granules is characteristic: they are « less thickly arranged » than in A. fascicularis Pennant, « more spaced, and shaped from oval to a more or less elongated drop. » (Bonfitto & al., 2011).
